As part of my Year of Sexy, in 2013 I made a commitment to stay in beautiful spaces. The second to last rental of the year (not counting my possibly-more-long-term Switzerland space) was a very sunny space in Rovinj, Croatia.
My favorite things about it? It was bright and sunny all the time, which made it an easy and happy space to work in. They had decorated for Christmas, so it felt very festive. The windows and balcony boast an extremely beautiful view of Rovinj jutting out over the sea. And the owner of the little travel agency that rents the place out went above and beyond to make sure my stay was lovely, even taking Luna and I along for a group tour of the charming Istrian countryside.
But, I know what you guys really love is the photos of these spaces. So here are some bright and beautiful shots (if you look closely, you’ll notice that Luna photo-bombed about half of them):
If you’re interested in renting the space (or finding another space closer to town, outside in the countryside with a pool, etc.), you can find more information at the Nautilus Travel Agency website. High season prices start at $84 per night (so a little more expensive than my usual finds). And the travel agency also does car rentals and excursions (such as that tour of the Istrian countryside, of which my favorite part was a visit to the tiny town of Hum). You can also find the apartment on Airbnb.
I was offered a discount on my stay in exchange for a review, but (as always) all opinions are my own.
Planning a trip to Europe? You can see all the beautiful spaces I’ve stayed in here.

$84 per night is still cheaper than a hotel room in a lot of places in the world.
Absolutely.
Lovely, indeed. I’ve paid more for places not as nice.
Me too, for sure.
LOL you are right Luna just wanted to be in pictures. I love the space and it looks really warm and cozy. I agree this is cheaper than a hotel on or off season in Hawaii and no where to cook your own food.
Seriously. She’s a photo hog whenever I don’t ask her to be and barely looks at the camera when I want her to.
Such a lovely find! Thanks for reinforcing my interest in Croatia :)
Of course – it’s a wonderful place and you should definitely go.
[…] In Rovinj, we had similar success (though a few less options, possibly simply because Rovinj is a bit less lively in the winter and seems to have less options overall) and eventually decided on a top-floor apartment full of sunshine. […]
