Last week, Luna had an allergic reaction to a yellow jacket and landed herself in the puppy hospital. She’s okay now. But it was scary. The good news? Not eating has made my clothes fit better. Total accident. But we’ve got to find a silver lining here, folks.

On Friday, I treated myself to a fancy French dinner of lobster risotto and some steak tartar stolen off someone else’s plate. Have I mentioned before that really good food makes men seem superfluous?

I was trying to avoid shopping until after the naked lady party this October, but I just couldn’t make it. After tossing over half the things in my closet (no, seriously), I think I had the equivalent of three cohesive outfits that weren’t for cold weather. Oops.

So over the last few weeks, I’ve picked up a few little things: a high-waisted gray dress with a 40s feel, a black vest, a black lace t-shirt, colorful tank tops and a light pinstripe jacket. I forgot how fun it was to shop. And to wear things that flatter me.

Luna, the Bootie and the Cape

Posted by gigigriffis under luna

.One.
Poor Luna has itchy ears. I’m not sure why, but I’ve been watching her for a few days and it doesn’t seem to be going away. Today, since it is Sunday, the vet is not open. Thus, I’ve had to outfit her with a bootie so that she doesn’t injure her ear with her sharp little nails. This bootie is created by putting one of my socks on her and securing it with a hair tie. She is not excited about this situation and is walking like a weirdo, bringing the bootie foot twice as far into the air as the rest of her feet.

Cuteness.

.Two.
Luna also has some sort of skin issue. She’s had it for some time now and the vet calls it Schnauzer acne. I wash her with special shampoo. And use udder cream when things seem dry and itchy. And somehow she’s still having itchy episodes. It’s sad. So on top of the bootie, she’s currently in a cape.

Poor Luna. Off to the vet tomorrow.

Moved!

Posted by gigigriffis under luna

We’re moved!

There’s still some unpacking and dancing around going on, so you’ll have to be patient on the photo front…but the reality is that we are IN THE NEW HOUSE!

Of course, dogs don’t do well with change, so Luna has been running around smelling every corner of the house and not eating much. Which, also of course, induced vomiting. Five times. Delightful.

Poor Luna.

Happy me.

And Luna Wins the Race!

Posted by gigigriffis under luna

(Before you dive into this one, may I humbly suggest you read up on parts I and II of my weekend, involving the love of French fries and the love of thigh taunting.)

Ah, and onto Sunday.

Sunday morning I was sleepy enough that my brain just incorporated my alarm clock into my dream, rather than waking me up. I mean, eventually I woke up, but by then the alarm had been going off for some time. Of course, this meant massive amounts of scrambling around for a tank top, workout pants, a hoodie and my keys before trotting out the door to meet Brief Roommate for a 5K in the park.

Despite A) the fact that I am out of shape, B) the fact that Brief Roommate had been skiing for the first time ever this weekend and was barely able to move, and C) the fact that Luna was immediately over-excited by the massive quantity of people and dogs and smells….we were somehow still able to complete the 5K. And in a reasonable time frame, too (1 hour. Decent, yes?).

Also, did I mention that Luna was the one wearing my race number. It was totally cute.

After said long walk, we went and had coffee on a patio. And then I went to see a Quite Darling little house, which I’ve put an application in on and am hoping beyond hope to sign a contract on this week. It’s time to pray. Cross your fingers. Do a rain dance.
