Restaurant Philippe Excoffier, Paris, 7th arrondissement
Known for its soufflé, this petite, elegant restaurant near the Eiffel Tower is one that I found through the incredible taste of my friend Danielle. I’ve since returned to introduce my partner to their tasteful, well-prepared cuisine. And I’ve never been disappointed.
On my first visit, I was in the mood for something classic. I ordered an artichoke tart (well prepared and flavorful), a steak (one of the most perfect steaks I’ve ever eaten), and a trio of light, fruity sorbets for dessert. My dining companion indulged in the famed soufflé.
My second visit, at lunch with my partner, we ordered quail and a savory cheese soufflé. Both meals were excellent and solidified Philippe Excoffier as somewhere I’ll return on my next visit to the city of lights.

What (else) to do in Paris
For me, Paris is a place for food and wandering.
Wear comfortable shoes and explore charming neighborhoods like Montmartre and Le Marais.
Stop for tea and tea-infused ice creams at Mariage Freres.
Grab a perfect dinner of small plates accompanied by good wine at Frenchie Bar a Vins.
Try breakfast at Colorova.
Browse the Montmartre fresh market in search of fresh gingerbread or buy meats from a butcher knight in Saint-Germain.
And do absolutely anything Danielle Perrin suggests. She’s one of two people in the world whose food recommendations have always left me breathless.
