Travel & Inspirational Link Round-Up, August Edition

by gigigriffis

Welcome back to the monthly link round-up!

This August, Chad, Luna, and I have been based in one of my top two favorite European major cities: Ljubljana, Slovenia. We’ve spent our days meeting up with friends (three different couples we know came to visit this month), cycling around town, and eating as much as we could at the Open Kitchen summer food festival that goes on every Friday.

World events left me feeling a bit shaken and heartbroken this month and my anxiety made a few nasty appearances, but in a personal, day-to-day level, it was a really good month with good food, good friends, affordable healthcare, and pretty weather.

But enough about me. Let’s talk links:

Travely stuff:

:: Another lovely abandoned places post by one of my traveling pals.

:: Related: the abandoned hotels of Kupari, the Whistler train wreck, and Car Canyon at Lake Powell.

:: This is so cool: a way to not waste the leftover change you end up with at the airport.

:: LOVE: adventure cats!

:: Related: How I Choose Where to Travel With My Dog

:: 31 Photos to Inspire a Visit to Lapland

Bookish & media inspirational stuff:

:: Been having good luck with books lately. Particularly adored The Raven Boys and The Secret Ingredient of Wishes.

:: My current podcast obsession: My Favorite Murder.

:: Also on the podcast front, I’ve been listening to In the Dark. Holy shiz, guys. So disturbing and important.

Now, back to you: What have you been up to this August?
