Announcing: My Awesome New Local Guide to Prague (& A Special Giveaway)

by gigigriffis

Going to Prague this year? Want to see more than just the basic tourist sights?

(Cue drumroll here.)

After a summer spent interviewing, editing, fact-checking, and perfecting, Prague: 10 Locals Tell You Where to Go, What to Eat, and How to Fit In is officially published!

You can buy your copy here.

To celebrate the book (my fourth and final this year!), this week I’m giving away a free tour with Eating Prague. The multi-hour, small group walking tour weaves history (both ancient and modern) and culture together with the unique and interesting food of Prague.

If you’re going to Prague anytime in the next year, this prize (good for one year) is for you.

So, how can you win a free tour? There are three ways to enter (so you can enter up to three times per person) and there’s no purchase necessary:

1. Leave a comment on this post. Tell me about your Prague plans or just say hi! Your comment counts as one entry.

2. Tweet this post and include @gigigriffis in your tweet (click here to tweet now).

3. Share this on Facebook and tag me in your share (you can friend me here). Keep in mind that I’ll have to see your tag in order to count you – so make sure the link works properly!

Entries close on October 1, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. Switzerland time. The winner will be selected by random number generator and announced on October 2 here on the blog.

Ready. Set. Enter!

Ready to nab your copy? Learn more about the book here or buy a copy by choosing a format with one of the pink buttons below:

Full-Color PDF*       Kindle (.mobi)        Nook (.ePub)        Paperback

Want to learn more about Eating Prague Tours? Check out their website or buy the Prague book for an in-depth interview with their Prague expert.

Official Rules: You’ll need to be of age in whatever country/state/region you live in (in most cases, this means 18 and up). Only residents of certain countries (including the US and many European countries, wherever this sweepstakes is legal) can enter. You can enter up to three times using the three methods above (only one time per method). No purchase is required (though I certainly hope you’ll buy my book, since that is how I afford to do what I do). If you win, I’ll notify you by email (for comment winners), Twitter (for Tweet winners), or Facebook (for Facebook winners). You will have a week to respond and confirm your win. If you fail to respond, a new winner will be selected by random number generator the following week. So watch your email, Twitter, and Facebook the first week of October!

It’s like you knew that eating was my favorite way to see a new city. :)

Hi there! I live near Prague so I visit relatively often throughout the year– obviously I would be super stoked to go on one of these food tours I’ve heard so much about.

Hi! I completely stumbled upon your site and contest while finding foodie things to do in Prague. My boyfriend and I will be in Prague for 5 days over New Years. I am very much looking forward to enjoy the city and what it has to offer. Best of luck with the book!! -D

My boyfriend and I are considering a move abroad next year. Ever since we first visited 7 years ago we haven’t been able to get this place off our minds. We’re hoping we can brave the winter temps and settle down there finally!

gigigriffis September 28, 2014 - 12:36 pm

That’s exciting! I hear you about having to brave the winters here (though last year was really beautiful and mild in Switzerland). I’m a little nervous for the coming winter.

Not sure about visiting Prague this year, but I’ve got friends there and this could be a nice present!

Just ordered your Prauge book yesterday and can’t wait to use it while spending a month there next August getting my TEFL! I love the culture of food, so winning would just be an extra bonus. :)

So fun! Enjoy!

I want to hear what the locals said! I regularly venture around Prague and discover new food places, but I’m always surprised about how many places I don’t know. Did Fusion Bistro make the cut? It’s an amazing little Indonesian restaurant that opened not long ago off of Francouska. That and Mamy (Korean) are my recent obsessions. Best of luck with the book and your website. I hope I win the Eating Prague tour!!!! Thanks for hosting this ;-)

gigigriffis October 1, 2014 - 6:23 am

Excellent! Mostly people focused on Czech cuisine and restaurants around that, though we did have a few interesting Asian, Asian-fusion, or other suggestions as well (if I’m remembering correctly without consulting the book).

Carly Guglielmelli October 1, 2014 - 7:23 am

That makes more sense for a guide book. I love Czech food but am happy that Prague allows for a bit of Asian and Mexican cuisine to be thrown into the mix too.

gigigriffis October 1, 2014 - 7:56 am

For sure! I’m an expat, too, and some of my favorite spots are the little ethnic enclaves, even though I take my visitors for the authentic Swiss experience.

Bri October 1, 2014 - 6:58 am

Currently a student living in Prague for the next few months and trying to find new places to eat/know more about what I’m eating!

gigigriffis October 1, 2014 - 7:55 am

Sounds like the guide is perfect for you. :) Good luck in the giveaway!

Looking forward to meeting the winner of the contest on our food tour soon!
