Travel + Inspirational Link Round-Up, June Edition

Jun 26, 2016    /    things i like

Ottawa’s dog festival’s cutest booth.

Hey friends, how was your June? Mine was, as you’ll have guessed, a whirlwind. I finally made it to Quebec City and Montreal, two cities that were very high up on my to-visit list, and discovered the shockingly lesser-known gem of Canada’s capital city: Ottawa. Will be sharing more on all that soon. But for now, links!

This month in travel and other interesting stuff:

:: Long-term travel isn’t for everybody. Here are some reasons why.

:: So, this rental looks stunning. (And if you’re joining Airbnb for the first time, use this link and both you and I get a credit.)

:: Here’s another Airbnb spot on my to-stay list.

:: What I Learned Tindering My Way Across Europe.

:: And now, let’s all go to Prague and eat some doughnut ice cream cones.

:: Or stay home and make maple cinnamon rolls.

:: Is this the future? I have seen the future of tourism and it’s designed to keep you out.

:: Connecting with nature boosts creativity and health (not surprisingly).

:: Unemployed? Move to Hawaii.

:: To end, something that’ll make you chuckle: portraits after one, two, and three glasses of wine.

And, in case you missed them on the blog:

:: Unconventional Interviews: Tips for Traveling With Foster & Adoptive Kids

:: Hiking the World: Into the Grand Canyon

:: The Sad, Strange Story of Car Canyon

Great roundup GiGi, loved the article by the no-longer nomads, their open and honest dialogue about traveling long term is so refreshing.

We just got back from Prague and saw those doughnut ice cream cones mentioned here, sadly Trdelník is a bit of a tourist scam that’s not at all Czech (sort of like chocolate covered waffles in Florence) and they look prettier in person than they taste. However for something truly special, the fresg gingerbread cookies and poppyseed kolaches at Perníčkův sen in Prague arevspot on for anyone with a sweet tooth.

Ps. So jealous you went to Montreal, that’s quite high on my list too!

I always enjoy your roundups. The nomad article was interesting. It’s amazing how much more energy it takes to do the “normal” things when you’re on the road, like figuring out where to buy things, how to get around, which shops are the good ones. It’s definitely not a lifestyle for everyone.

For sure. I really like presenting both sides of things when I can. I hate this whole one-size-fits-all mentality everyone seems to have. Full-time travel is awesome for some people and not right for others and it looks different for everyone. Always really glad when people are honest about their reasons for going or staying.
