Photo Essay: One Autumn Day in Saint-Jean-de-Luz

by Gigi Griffis

My favorite town in the French Basque Country, where I spent the month of November recovering from my tough October and enjoying an almost summer-like sunshine, was the quaint surf town of Saint-Jean-de-Luz.

If I had my trip to plan all over again, this is where I would have based myself.

Luna running

Seascape

Shoreline homes

Sand

castle-building in the distance

City center St. Jean de Luz

red house

hilly sea view

Reminiscent of San Sebastian, Spain.
Also a lovely city, great food.
For our next visit, we’ll have all the time we want, and will certainly add French Basque country. Great photos!

Yes – it’s only like 30 minutes from San Sebastian, I think. I wanted to make it to SS, but the trains only ran once a day down there, so I decided to save it for next time.
