If I had it to do all over again, I would have based myself, during this month in Southern Spain, in little Frigiliana, where the hiking trails run into the town and the lemon trees are everywhere.

Unfortunately, getting there from Nerja is a dangerous and dirty walk along a busy street. It was heartbreaking just how much garbage had been casually tossed out of car windows and into the little ditches beside the road. Garbage I then had to wade through to get to pretty Frigiliana.

So on one hand, loved this pretty little Andalucian town. On the other hand, shame on everyone who throws garbage out of the car. Are we still so ignorant that we think that’s okay?

Before lunch. I think I arrived around 10:30. I’m sure part of the quietness is due to it being off-season and part due to the morning hour (it did get a little more lively around lunchtime).

Beautiful photos! A shame you did not walk through the Rio Higuerón riverbed from Nerja to Frigiliana. Would have given you a much quieter and cleaner experience.

Unfortunately, that walk requires you to drive to the trailhead. There’s no way to walk directly from Nerja. (At least according to the info I found online?) :(

Awesome photos. Yes, unfortunately, tourists seem to not “take only photos, leave only footprints.” Born n raised in a Fla beach town, we have issues all the time with ‘tourons’ leaving their trash anywhere they feel like it. Like they’re the only ones that will ever be there. If one travels a long way, enjoys what they see, why trash it? Another travesty in today’s ‘progressive, narcissistic’ world! Makes one wonder, why save the human race? We’ve already lost!

Yeah. I just can’t wrap my mind around why anyone would leave their trash anywhere other than a trash can.
