Our new language teacher told me, in front of our whole class, that I have an orubunu…a fat ass. He was trying to make a funny example of a certain grammatical rule and we all had a good chuckle. The worst part is, the whole “fat ass” situation had us all laughing for so long, over several days, that the name’s sort of stuck. I love a good laugh as much as the next gal, but it’s beginning to concern me that my 3 most common nicknames in Uganda are “Harry”, “White”, “fat ass”.
