I think I will try the get up early part, however I will hopefully be following that with a trip to the gym. As far as eating real food and giving up soda... I'm not there yet and probably won't be for quite some time :) Also, I am unwilling to give up Chilies dates... Love you and good luck

MAGIC BULLET YES. I HAVE IMPORTANT, INFLUENTIAL LIFE HABITS.

Also, these comments echo what I was already going to suggest...nut-based snacks, the more natural the better. I like to get unsalted or lightly salted almonds with a part-skim mozzarella cheese stick and some grapes. The protein is filling, and the flavors and textures are really complementary. I also love hummus (toasting half of a whole-wheat pita to go with it is delish, though not very satisfying protein-wise) and apples with peanut butter. I bet the farmers market would have some interesting and fairly unprocessed variations on your typical JIF...natural crunchy kinds, almond butter, honey-nut combinations, etc. I also like just halving normal meal-sized things for afternoon snacks, like half a bagel with turkey/hummus/veggies or something.

Good thoughts. After a trip to the grocery store (the farmers' market was closed--boo), I've also decided to try and do homemade hummus.

Awesome snack: apple slices dipped in peanut butter (or half an apple slathered with peanut butter)
Also salty nuts make a good healthy snack when you crave salt.
