8:53 AM Chai in hand. Computer slowly rebooting.
9:36 AM Everything is still broken. Still.
10:28 AM What part of SMILING picture do the men of Craigslist not understand? Hint: you looking surly is not smiling.
11:30 AM Upset over getting NO HELP for my 15 hour schedule and having people respond incredulously when I broke the news that a few things wouldn’t get done. Shocker.
11:31 AM Also, my email isn’t working still. FML.
12:41 PM Continued FML feelings.
3:01 PM “No atonement for God, or novelists, even if they are athiests. It was always an impossible task and that was precisely the point.” -Atonement
5:01 PM A call with Roommate #1 lifts my spirits immensely.
6:55 PM Deciding the next book to start. Options spread across the bed include: The Road, The Secret History, The Secret Life of Bees, The Shadow of the Wind, Reading Lolita in Tehran, Three Cups of Tea and Ending Slavery.
7:00 PM Decide to add a Gigi recommended reading list to this website.
7:22 PM Decide to pick Ending Slavery back up, which I left at page 80 when I started Atonement. And, for my fiction craving: The Secret Life of Bees.
7:58 PM Write a short, sad, incredulous entry in my paper journal. Then read a copy of an old love letter to Peter Pan. Am still sad. After going on and off medications, buying a small dog, moving to a new place and spilling my heart to a therapist. Am still sad. Mostly because I am forgotten. Forgettable.
8:47 PM “People who think dying is the worst thing don’t know a thing about life.” – The Secret Life of Bees
8:59 PM Get an email from a fellow I corresponded with a month ago and who fell off the earth. Debate on returning said email. As he was already flushed. And forgotten.
9:02 PM Luna, sitting on the top of the couch like a cat and staring at me quizzically can always make me smile. She is my reason.
