Beautiful Spaces: Where We Stayed in Hershey, Pennsylvania

by Gigi Griffis

Welcome back to Beautiful Spaces—a series of posts in which I talk about the places where I stay during my travels. It all started in 2013 when I realized that my contentment on the road is directly connected to how much I love where I’m living…and so made a commitment to find beautiful spaces to call home along the way. This inn was kind enough to provide a complimentary room in exchange for this review, but as always, opinions are my own.

Well, we’re officially inn people.

When Chad and I arrived at the Westwynd Farm Inn in Hershey, Pennsylvania, unloaded our bags into the spacious downstairs bedroom, and snuggled up on the patio furniture with glasses of wine to watch the light fade over the green lawn, we both knew it.

“I think this is my favorite place we’ve stayed so far,” he said.

Why? Because not only was the inn itself lovely, comfortable, and homey, but the location felt so rural and secluded. We wound along country roads to make our way here. We passed a horse barn and training area on our way in. It felt far from traffic and the anxiety of city life.

The next day, we chatted with the innkeepers, learning their wild and wonderful history as horse owners and race car drivers, travelers and cyclists.

“It must be a requirement to live an interesting life before becoming an innkeeper,” I said.

Chad nodded.

“It reminds me a little of France,” I said. “The stone patio and the wrought-iron chairs with lush greenery in the background.”

“This whole area is like something out of a magazine. The best of Pennyslvania.” Chad said.

And so our two day stay went, with us trading delighted exclamations, sleeping deeply in the comfortable bed, soaking in the massive jacuzzi tub, sitting on the quiet back porch, and enjoying every bite of the always-present cookies and cheesecakes and other goodies, including a fresh breakfast in a bright dining room every morning.

Rooms start at about $109 per night and include a wonderful breakfast and plenty of cookies and other treats. The inn is very close (about five minutes driving) to Hershey Park, though it feels secluded. You can book here. Tell them we sent you.

Charming and peaceful. Grounds are beautiful — I’ll have to add this to my wish list of places to stay. It’s great to have someone else ferreting out the best places.

It was most definitely one of our favorites from this road trip. So quiet and hidden away.

They’re normally not pet friendly, but took Luna as an ESA.

Thanks for the review. I am looking for a quiet place to retreat to for a weekend and this is not far from home.

Glad it’s helpful! We really loved it there, so hopefully it can be a nice quiet retreat for you, too.

I’m not sure if I said in the original review, but we stayed in the big downstairs room (bottom floor) and I think ours was the only room down there and had a door to the outside patio, so you may want to ask specifically about that room if you’re looking for the quietest, coziest place. We ended up having the back patio to ourselves most times since everyone else was rooming upstairs and hanging out on the upstairs balconies.
